FAQ

The best time depends on the region:

  • Eastern Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda): June–October for the Great Migration and excellent wildlife viewing.

  • Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia): May–September (dry season) for concentrated game viewing.

  • Western Africa (Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria): November–March for drier, more comfortable weather.

Visa requirements vary by country. Many safari destinations allow visa-on-arrival or e-visas, but it’s best to check each country’s embassy website before traveling.

Yellow Fever vaccination is required for many African countries. Recommended vaccines include Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and Tetanus. Malaria prophylaxis is also strongly advised in most safari areas. Always consult your travel doctor 4–6 weeks before departure.

Pack light, neutral-colored clothing (khaki, beige, olive), a wide-brim hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera. Warm layers are essential for early morning and evening game drives. Many safaris operate light aircraft with strict luggage weight limits (often 15–20kg in soft bags).

A typical day includes an early morning game drive (sunrise wildlife activity), brunch, siesta or pool time, then an afternoon/evening game drive followed by dinner under the stars.

Yes. Reputable lodges and guides prioritize guest safety. Always follow your guide’s instructions—do not approach wildlife, and remain in the vehicle unless instructed otherwise.

Most lodges offer limited Wi-Fi, but connections may be slow or unavailable in remote areas. Safaris are a great chance to disconnect and enjoy nature.

Expect to see elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalo (the “Big Five”), plus giraffes, zebras, antelope, hippos, and countless bird species. In Eastern Africa, you may also witness the Great Wildebeest Migration.

Local currencies vary (Kenyan Shilling, Tanzanian Shilling, South African Rand, etc.), but US Dollars are widely accepted. Major lodges accept credit cards, but cash is useful for tips and small purchases.
